R. Clay Milling

Clay is a native of New Orleans, Louisiana.  He graduated from Vanderbilt University in 1988 with a degree in Economics, then continued his studies at Vanderbilt University School of Law, graduating in 1991.  He was one of only a few students in his law school class to be selected as a member of both Vanderbilt's Moot Court Board and Vanderbilt's Journal of Transnational Law.

He began his practice in Atlanta with the nationally known firm of Alston & Bird, where he concentrated in the areas of complex medical malpractice and products liability defense.  After leaving that firm in early 1996, he has limited his practice solely to representing individuals and families in catastrophic injury and wrongful death cases.

Clay is active in professional organizations on both a state and national level. Here in Georgia, Clay serves on the Executive Committee of the Georgia Trial Lawyers Association, and he is co-chair of the Constitutional Challenge Committee, the primary job of which is to challenge the unfair “caps on damage” law, that limits the recovery of Georgians in certain cases. In addition, Clay is past chairman of the Civil Justice PAC, which grew to become the largest political action committee in the State of Georgia under his leadership. On a national level, Clay is Georgia’s State Delegate to the American Association for Justice; a role which allows Clay to act as a liaison between trial lawyers in Georgia and trial lawyers across the country.

Clay has always received the highest ranking for competency and ethics from Martindale-Hubbell; he has been recognized as a Georgia Super Lawyer multiple times; he has been selected as one of Georgia's top trial lawyers; and he is a member of the Million Dollar Advocacy Forum.

Clay is an instrument rated private pilot and enjoys aviation in his free time.
